Crimson Classic - Road Closures

As indicated in the campus-wide email, the Crimson Classic 5K is occurring on Friday, October 18, 2024, and will contain road closures from 2:00pm until 5:00 pm that will affect your parking area.  In order to ensure the public safety, we will be unable to allow you to enter or exit from your parking facility during those hours. 

If you park in Lots F, N, H1, H2, Y or Gen South, and you anticipate that you may need to arrive or leave your designated parking facility between the hours of 2:00pm and 5:00pm that day, we ask that you please park in lot P, the Newman Center garage or lot E, the Evans garage. The entrance to Lot P is off of Wesley Avenue. The lot E entrance is off South High Street. Please park on levels 2 – 4 of the garage.

The gate arm will be open beginning at 6am for easy access to the lot.

If you do not intend on needing to enter or exit the parking facility between the hours of 2:00pm and 5:00pm then you can park in your designated lot.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience and support.

Parking Rate Increase for Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25)

Parking rates will increase in the fiscal year 2025 (FY25), the increase will take effect on September 1, 2024. Students will see an increase when purchasing their permit online. Exempt employees, this increase will be reflected in your October pay. For non-exempt employees, the increase will be reflected in your first pay in October. Non-benefitted employees will see an increase when paying for parking in September, and thereafter. All monthly rates increased by 10%.

These new rates were approved by the Chancellor and Board of Trustees (BOT).

Why do parking rates increase?

In addition to paying down the debt incurred from building parking garages, the costs for operating and maintaining a parking system with more 5,900 spaces, including 7 parking structures, 60 off-street lots, and spaces across the campus, are significant. Those costs increase over time due to inflation, and as the parking assets age, the costs of maintaining them increase.

Why did rates increase by the amount they did this year?

DU is committed to supporting sustainability, as outlined in the University of Denver Sustainability Commitment, Sustainability Commitment website . Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and achieving carbon neutrality by 2030, requires a holistic approach if we are to reach those objectives. Setting parking rates so that they encourage travel mode shift, away from single occupant vehicles, and to more sustainable modes such as transit, cycling, ride share, car sharing, and walking, supports the University achieving its sustainability commitments. Commuting Carbon Offset Program

The University of Denver has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030. Commuting to & from campus by the campus community contributes significant greenhouse gas emissions to the University’s carbon footprint.

The Green Commuter program will provide a carbon offset purchase option to all DU community members who wish to participate and help the University towards the goal of becoming completely carbon neutral by 2030.

Annual Bike Registration

Registering your bike assists in recovery in case of theft, and allows owners to be notified if there is a problem with the bike. Registration is free, but requires an annual update so we know that your bike is active on campus. Register at mobility/bicycling. U-lock Enforcement Policy

We want to make you aware that beginning immediately the bicycle U-lock policy will be enforced regularly. This policy can be found on the Campus Safety website, Bicycle Security, and on the Parking and Mobility website, Bicycles . Remember, bicycles should not be locked to handrails, lampposts, or objects other than a bike rack.

As we realize that some of you may not have been aware of this policy we are giving you a grace period of one week to obtain a U-lock and properly secure your bicycle before Winter break. All bicycles left unsecured or improperly secured will be immobilized and/or impounded by the Parking and Mobility Services office.

Bicycles will only be released during our business hours. The Parking and Mobility office is open Monday – Friday from 8:30am until 4:30pm. We are closed all University holidays.
